I am very disappointed that I am not able to buy “undone” on itunes. I quit listening to secular radio about 18 months ago and I get burned out with the major Christian channels because they play the same 20 songs over and over and over. I am the kind of guy who drives down the road with my “Jesus Jams” blaring loud enough to drown out the ridiculous bass coming from the secular rap noise that is flooding the air waves. I would love to arm my arsenal of Christian music with this song but it is unfortunately unavailable. I am very disappointed by this because it is music that saved me from taking my life back in April 2009. Had Sanctus Real – Whatever you’re doing, not been available for me to hear at just the right time, I don’t think that I would have crashed to my knees and begged God to save my life. It was simply a song that got my attention and saved me. I encourage you to consider allowing your song to be made available on itunes. I believe that a song as powerful as this one might just save the life of someone who needs to hear the message that is nestled in these lyrics. For me it’s not about visiting someones website or buying the full album. It is simply about taking the songs that transform me and making them heard to the people who may just need something to lift them up at just the right moment. One analogy that I want to share with you is this – Christ is the single, God is the album. God released the single in to the world for man to have. Christ said that He is the only way to the Father. Is this sinking in? My point is, such a work of art should be enjoyed by any legal means of attainment. I think it would be more important for inspirational songs like this to bring people closer to God than to this website. This is only my opinion as a reborn man who loves growing in Christ. I hope you make the selfless choice by removing you and revenue from this and open it up to God and His glory and what He is able to do through art like this. Thank you for allowing me to speak my opinion.
A single is a fair compromise because it gets your name to the lazier people. I think it would be better to put it on iTunes than to have it illegally distributed. If it is released as a single attach a link to your website as well.
It is a beautiful song and will have alot more of an opportunity to reach more people by being available on itunes. People know what they like. People may hear bits and pieces on the radio. Itunes will be a quick and easy way to get your music out. When somebody buys it, they like it, so they play it, others will hear it, and it will reach people who may not even know who you are. They will like it, they will inquire and in time wander into your website. You will be giving alot more people an opportunity to get to hear your beautiful music. You will definately get people who want to hear your story. When you produce something beautiful people will totally find you.
I think if people really want to buy the new album then they will either come to the website, or they will try to find it in stores–like the Christian Book Store–Mardel
I love the song Undone and after searching for a while on iTunes, I knew there had to be a specific reason it was not there or at Amazon’s digital music store. I since ended up on your web site where I’ve been following this thread closely. I agree with Jason’s excellent points in the video. I understand and respect your wanting to be closer to your fans, but I think of a lot of people will not go to the effort of seeking out the site after hearing your song on the radio.
I think you will be pleasantly surprised if you release the single on iTunes. I think in one day you will see more comments from fans than you will here and is that not some of the fan interaction you are looking for? It seems to me putting the single on iTunes is a great compromise.
Best of luck, and keep up the great work!
I understand the whole stick it to the man thing, but for some people its not a matter of getting closer to the artist by buying the whole cd. I’m on a pretty good budget at the moment, so its either I buy 3 or 4 really good songs a month signally or one cd every other month with 1 or 2 good songs I’ll listen to alot and a bunch of songs I’ll listen to once or twice. Every now and then there is a really good cd where everything is good on it but that is kind of few and far between. I commented on one of your previous posts earlier this week and I just wanted to apologize if I sounded rude. If you do release undone on iTunes can you please sell it on zune as well? Awesome song.
I think releasing a single is a good compromise.
When I commented just the other day, I was thinking a lot about this, because Undone is really an amazing song and it’ll bring tons of listeners in. I’m sure you can put a link to your site in the description of the single, and then it gets people to come to your site. I think, just like Jason, that you’d be a bit stupid to not do at least this. I sought your site out because I always search albums out, even that I can’t find on iTunes, but I can tell you now I’m on of few who do. You’re sure to attract a ton more attention if you put the single on iTunes.
That being said, just to throw it out there, you might consider letting people buy the album on your website for $8.99 if they already have Undone. Just saying, the last thing you want to do is lose potential customers because they’re buying the single twice.
Just my two cents, keep up the excellent work guys.
Hi Jeromy,
There is a problem with society that I believe God needs us to change. That is different than him wanting us to change it. I like the reasoning behind reaching as many as possible!! It makes perfect sense. But is it based on record sales or Christ? Jeromy from your artist point of view….You will win the war with your opinion on buying the whole CD vs just one single if you stick to the direction God has you holding on to! I have my own theories on how to get you where I think it is you want to go. But this ministry, and art are yours. And it is gorgeous. Nancy and I were listening to “Voice from Home” She said to me. Where did you get this? She started with ” Have I ever Told You”. Point being everything you have done since Jennifer came aboard with your music…..Making it ‘Yours” is profoundly beautiful. There may be blocks in the road that keep you from just doing whatever you want to do, but if not. I would reintroduce yourself like you always have. Go out and play the stuff that got people through very tough times. That music brought tears to smiles in time periods shorter than they should or could have been:) I am not a fan of Steve Jobs for more than just his I-Tunes engine. Our newest generation is slothful. Why? Being able to steal music, has now gone to one big engine that calls the financial shots. That may be harsh but anybody seeking thruth about that will concur. I think people far wiser than me can help, and your friend in this video has some good input….His heart is right IMO. But you can get people to the finish line your way as well…..Have a good second service. Be well, and God bless your new footsteps:)Long wind as always…Time for me to SHHHush for a while. Be good, and carry your Altoids….You will understand soon enough. Nancy says tell Jennifer hello:)
