McDonalds Monday

2 CommentsApril 19, 2010

Good morning,

I hope this finds you doing well.  I know it’s been a couple of weeks but I thought I needed a break from the Internet for a little while.  I can tell I need to get away from it when I start to think about how I’m going to tweet or blog about every experience I have as soon as it happens.  I’m not fully back though.  We’re spending the week at Jennifer’s family farm near St Louis and they don’t have internet so I have to go to McDonalds to work.  Don’t tell Jim Kreider, but the coffee here is pretty good.  Merridee’s has better food though, except for the hash-brown pucks they still serve here.

Jennifer and I just got in last night from a weekend in Texas.  Since 1985 the MS Society has been hosting a bike ride from Houson to Austin every spring and this year they asked us to take part.  On Saturday the riders, about 13,000 of them, left Houston for the day-one 90-mile leg.  They camped in the one-horse-town of La Grangne that night.  Jennifer and I played a concert for them there .  Then on Sunday they rode another 60 miles to Austin and collapsed.  This is the first MS event I’ve been able to be a part of since my diagnosis in 2007 and it was a bit overwhelming.  To think that the money being raised would go to help me and others like me brought about gratitude I didn’t expect.  My friend Sarah, from Houston, who I’ve known since she was 11, rode especially for me and at the concert she presented me with the bandana she was wearing with my name on it.   So cool, I was so honored.

I’ve got a lot of things to tell you but I can’t type them all right now.  I hope you have a great couple of days!  I’ll be in touch –

Peace and Rest

Jeromy

I have loved FFH since I started listening to christian music over 11 years ago…I now have two children, Christian who is 12 years old and Ashlyn who is 4 years old. They too love your music. Everyday my daughter Ashlyn requests to listen to Fly Away or Daniel (which she calls the lion song), or Astronaut…right now though she loves the song When I Praise…we all lift our hands up when we are in the car singing it. Thank you guys so much for your songs. It brings tears to my eyes each and everytime I hear my children singing praises to the Lord. It helps remind me that I am doing something right in raising my children. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

  2. Back in 2002, while serving time in Saudi Arabia with the US Air Force because of effects from 9/11, I bought an FFH CD at the P/BX (Post exchange/Base exchange). I had no idea who you were, or what FFH stood for (I still don’t know what F F H stands for??) but your music got me through so much! “I’m ready to fly, I’m ready to soar…I’m leaving the past behind I’m opening the door”…So sorry if some of that is wrong. I sit and type while in my corporate world of a job office.

Last night while leaving a Priscilla Shirer study “Discerning the Voice of God” we wrapped up the 6-week session with “obidience a must and surrender”. What song plays on my radio on the way home? “Undone”. It was spot-on with the message we just heard. We need to surrender ourselves. Not a little bit, completely.

What all of my rambling is trying to say is thank you. Thank you for your music, your passion, and inspriation. There’s a special place in my heart and soul for FFH like no other Christian artist or group and I can’t quite explain it completely.

“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit–fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.” John 15:16

    Blessings to you!
