If you follow me on twitter you heard me ask for prayer for my younger brother, Derik, up in Pennsylvania… On Tuesday he and my dad were carrying a studio mirror into his house so his daughters could practice dance. The mirror buckled and split, severing almost all of the tendons and arteries in Deek’s forearm down into his wrist. My dad wrapped it and waited 25 minutes until the ambulance arrived. Dad said there was so much blood, it looked like Derik had been shot. He was nearly in shock from the loss of blood when EMTs arrived. Dad would have taken him to the hospital himself but he couldn’t figure out how to start Deek’s hybrid Toyota. Once in the ER the doctors still struggled to stop the bleeding. Once stabilized he was taken into surgery.
Derik is a keyboard player so he is devastated. The doctors are cautiously optimistic that he will regain use of his hand but he probably wont be able to play music for a year. Even then it will be a slow recovery. For Derik, not playing music is like asking him not to walk.
Would you mind praying for him; For a full recovery and for the Lord to grant him the grace and patience he’ll need to wait. And for HIm to feel and accept the Lord’s hand of peace and nurturing during the rehab. Thanks!
