Last weekend we packed up the minivan and did a coupe of “caravan” dates in central Illinois. First was Decatur, on Friday, at Glad Tidings. The Nevitt family has been close to FFH since we first played at the church almost ten years ago! This visit back was like being with family. And the warm reception was astounding. Our kids danced in the front row most of the night. Sadie-Claire was mesmerized by the screens. Glad Tidings now meets in a converted electric plant. If you ever go through Decatur on a weekend you must stop by and worship with them. It’s a unique and wonderful experience. And while you’re there, pressure Amy into having kids, she loves it.
Our second stop was Paris, a two hour drive east through the soy bean fields. Paris is small, very small. But lovely. I honestly didn’t know it existed. We pulled into town around noon and asked around for a good place to eat. Some guy on the street suggested Main Street Cafe. It was great. Not low-fat, but great. The show was in the local high school gym, which was the biggest building in town. By 630 it was packed, nice and sweaty, with no ac. We had an amazing time though, heat and all. Jennifer and I have now been to Paris France, Paris Missouri, and Paris Illinois. All of them are special, but Paris Illinois will always be dear to us! Thanks to the Wheeler family for everything, see you soon, we hope!
